The Space Domination website has a new look! The new website is larger than the old website, which should only be a slight problem on 800x600 resolutions. Regardless, this new website is an obvious improvement over the last. After I have a day or so of fixing stuff, please remind me of things that I miss.

December 19 , 2004:

Space Domination version 3.0 Betareleased! This is a HUGE update to the Space Domination world, and is sure to be enjoyed by everyone. There are so many updates, that I needed a list from Nemesis to remember all of them. There are already various help resources for Space Domination version 3.0 Beta, though keep in mind that during the first few days these resources aren't going to be perfect.

And now for a list of new features and changes:

Password Screen:

  • Images are loaded at startup with progress shown on new loading screen
  • Password screen: enter now takes you to the password entry from the username entry
    and from the password entry to the send button
    and from the send button to the enter button
  • top 20 list will indicate who is online with an *

Options Screen:

  • Can enable/disable smooth movement
  • Quit button actually disconnects you from the server
    immediately, no more waiting to reconnect

Movement Screen:

  • New images for all the worlds
  • Enemy player names are shown on worlds/phenom they control instead of blue flags
  • Phenom now get flags/names as well.
  • Fleet icon on movement screen matches race type.
  • Average worlds now have 3 different image types
  • ghost fleets cannot attack anything, so no scouting that way
  • if enemy fleet is sitting on a world left click attacks world first right click attacks fleet first
  • holding down control when clicking on a world will mark world red if it is not marked will remove red mark if it is marked only the player making the mark can see it
    closing the client clears the mark list
  • holding down shift when clicking on a world will mark world green if it is not marked will remove green mark if it is marked only the player making the mark can see it
    closing the client clears the mark list
  • escape key halts fleet movement
  • You will get a blue marker directing you to the last world that was attacked (only works while you are in-game)
  • You will get a red marker directing you to the last world that was taken (only works while you are in-game)
  • wormholes take you to another wormhole at random
  • red giants slow you like nebulae, and increase fleet decay while inside
  • blue dwarfs speed you like neutron stars, and decrease fleet decay while inside

Industry Screen:

  • Fleet tranfer to and from world works more like battle screen
  • You can choose exactly where in your fleet the sqad goes
  • You can have more than one squad with the same ship type
  • You can choose to take all, 1/2, or 1 of the sqad
  • There is a button to build out industry to max It begins at the last slot and works towards the first
  • The collect button will take ship types from the planet if you already have that ship type in your fleet.
    If you have more than one stack in your fleet, it will fill up one before the other.
  • Doomsday will blow up the world (making it dead) when an enemy takes it This will damage the enemy fleet
    This damage applies to darts
  • Stellurae will add that world to the list of possible dart locations for capturing a dart when one is killed
  • Buttons for building ships are now color coded to mineral amounts green for 3 minerals, black for 2, red for 1, and disabled for 0
  • Clicking on the build box without clicking send will cancel what you were doing (don't need to build "nothing" in an empty slot anymore)
  • Transition to option screen and back no longer loads the movement screen
  • Build point bonuses (good and bad) due to minerals will no longer carry over into the next build command.

Battle Screen

  • Frigates and stations can only fire to the first enemy row now.
  • All enemy ships in the front row must be defeated before ships in the back row can be targeted. Darts can still fire back row to back row regardless of what is in the front row.
  • Visible shots that are race specific Shots also vary slightly in height based on ship type

Declares:

  • Declares for old earth and race home world will come from previous owner now can declare as often as you wish, coming from previous owner makes it so that multiple declares are not advantageous (you can't declare back to your original total)
